Amid champagne and cheers, www.fcporto.pt spoke to three individuals part of the three-time consecutive champion team. Coach Obradovic, captain Ricardo Moreira and Dario Andrade, top scorer at the meeting in Águas Santas, highlight the team spirit, which all consider being a real family. This season, the Portugal Cup is the other trophy to be won.
Ljubomir Obradovic: “We can still make much progress” “Over the first-half we managed a good lead and in the second-half we tried to settle down and control the game. This title is the result of team work as a family. When things work in this manner, it is easier. We can still make much progress. This is a very young team with room to grow. We are eager to develop. We’ll seek the goal that we lacked in order to reach the Champions League. Portugal has to participate and, if we get clearance, we know that the Portuguese champion will qualify for the following year. FC Porto play fast handball, with good defence, counterattack and inventive attack. ”
Dario Andrade: “We’ll be focusing on the ‘double’” “This victory is owing to another year of hard work. I think we were the better team throughout the year. Celebrating this way, with so many fans, is very rewarding. The decisive moment was the game against Benfica, where we earned a comfortable margin in the championship, but this is the ultimate prize for more than 30 games. We still have the Portuguese Cup, but now we’re going to celebrate. We’ll first be focusing on the coveted ‘double’ and only then on next season. ”
Ricardo Moreira: “We’ve equalled the best team of all-time” “This title means a lot, because we equalled the best Porto team of all-time with three consecutive titles. We’re making history. This is a very humble and hard-working team. I think there was no decisive game, but several times where we had the will to do better. We now look forward to the Portuguese Cup. Next year, we will once more try to qualify for the Champions League group stage. ” |
