11/03/2010 FC Porto joins the campaign 1goal
FC Porto is the second club in the world after FC Barcelona to join the campaign 1GOAL - Education for All. This initiative is part of the Class of 2015, a project launched by the United Nations in September 2008 and that was signed by people as Queen Rania of Jordan, Bono, Bob Geldof, the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and José Manuel Barroso, chairman of the European Commission.
The education of young players has always been a priority for FC Porto, and this orientation was reinforced more recently, with the project Vision 611. The minimum education for young athletes is the 12nd grade and the success rate is now virtually complete. Therefore, FC Porto associates itself with pleasure to 1 GOAL. «Our club has always had the education of young players as an objective, because we are aware that this is the most important value that they may have in their life. If all clubs, businesses and individuals can make a small contribution, it will be possible to build a bright future for all girls and boys on the planet», underlines the club chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. |
