"This is not the result we wanted"

After the match against Sporting, Vítor Pereira pointed out that the tie didn’t please him, but believed the match was “competitive and intense”. Therefore, the coach refused to give any special importance to the fact that it was the 53rd consecutive game of the Dragons without losing, for the Portuguese League. Both Vítor Pereira and Hulk mentioned the moment when Polga should have been sent-off.

Vítor Pereira: "It was an intense match"

Tie doesn’t please

"It wasn’t the result we wanted, but the game was competitive and intense. Competitive doesn’t mean well played… There should have been more quality, more tranquillity, a more supported football. It was an intense game and the result is a proof of what happened on the pitch. The tie takes some meaning to the achievement of reaching 53 games without losing, because we wanted to take the three points with us. I give no special meaning to the record."

The league is far from over
"We will have to wait for Benfica’s result to see if we will remain in the lead, but there are many more games to play this season. All matches are difficult and competitive and there are many more ahead of us."

Polga was fortunate
"From the dugout, it seems to me that Polga is a very lucky player, because i tis the second consecutive red card that he dodges. We would play against 10 men for 25 minutes and that would surely make some difference."

Hulk: "I take beatings for the entire 90 minutes"

"I believe we had two teams wanting to score and take the three points, but, unfortunately, the goal didn’t come. I’m up front taking beatings for the entire 90 minutes and there was a play where Polga should have seen the second yellow card. We came here wanting to win and take the three points with us, but we were impaired."
