Strong start ends in beating

Big victory over Feirense (4-0), in Santa Maria da Feira, for matchday 13 of the championship

This Saturday, FC Porto beat Feirense away (4-0), for matchday 13 of Liga NOS. The blue and white victory started to take shape four minutes in, when André Silva scored from a penalty (4m), in a play that led to Ícaro being sent-off (3m). Before the break, Brahimi made it 2-0 for the Dragons and offered more comfort on the scoreboard (33m). Marcano (51m) and André Silva, with another goal (66m), sealed match. With this victory, FC Porto now has 28 points and is waiting for the end of the match opposing Benfica and Sporting, to confirm the distance to the leader of the table.

FC Porto could have hardly expected a better start, even if Ícaro did have the first chance to score (2m). The problem is that the very same Ícaro, just a few moments later, tackled André Silva when the striker was moving for goal. Penalty for the Dragons and red card for the central defender (3m), in a play that was quite similar to an event that occurred against Sporting de Braga, in the previous matchday. Called to take the penalty, André Silva made it count and scored his eighth goal in the championship, the fastest for the blue and whites, in 2016/17 (4m).

Despite being one man short early in the match, the team from Santa Maria da Feira proved to be capable of fighting for a good result and came close to the tie, but the powerful shot from Tiago Silva hit the post (17m). The blue and white response was strong and ended in the second goal, scored by Brahimi, with his left foot. Maxi Pereira threw the ball from the side line, finding the Algerian star by chance, and the quality of the number 8 did the rest, giving no chances to the opposing goalkeeper (33m). With two more goals at halftime and an extra man on the pitch, the blue and white victory seemed a given.

The second-half changed nothing in the match, and FC Porto retained control over Feirense, making it 3-0 shortly after the restart. Brahimi took a corner-kick, Felipe headed it at the near post, and Marcano pushed it in on the far post (51m). Shortly after the attack of the defenders, Vaná prevented Diogo Jota from making it 4-0 with an excellent save (56m), but was unable to do the same to André Silva. Alex Telles went to the touch line and did a fantastic cross for the number 10 to head the ball in, for his ninth goal in the Portuguese League, increasing the beating (66m).

Diogo Jota (88m) and Herrera (90m+3) had good chances to score the fifth, and Platiny also came close to scoring the lonely goal for Feirense (89m), but the scoreboard was closed. It was the third consecutive victory for FC Porto, with the club retaining the label of unbeaten, with the seventh game in a row without conceding a single goal, in a total of 660 minutes (counting on the 30 minutes of extra time in Chaves). Bravo!
