Talent and devotion
The long and rich history of FC Porto in terms of world class left fullbacks already includes Alex Telles. Signed in July, 2016, from Galatasaray, from Turkey, the Brazilian added strength, technique and speed to the left of the blue and white defence. Aged 23, the best fullback in the 2013 Brasileirão became a Dragon to further his adventure in European football, and, in 2016/17, on his first season in blue and white, he was one of the players used the most (45 matches, one goal scored). You can say he found a place in the heart of the fans. Born in Caxias do Sul, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, Alex Telles started his formation in the small club Esporte Clube Juventude, where his good performances earned him a move to Grémio de Porto Alegre, early in 2013. On that year, not only was he named best fullback of the competition, he was also named the biggest revelation in the Brazilian championship, which opened the doors to Europe for him, later signing for Galatasaray. In Turkey, the defender won four trophies in one and a half season, playing as left fullback or left midfielder.
At the start of 2015/16, Alex Telles moved to Inter Milan, on a loan, but the Italian club didn’t make use of the release fee, despite the regular inclusion of the defender in the team. Still looking for his first international cap for the main Brazilian squad, Alex Telles is highly devoted to Our Lady of Fatima, which makes 13 his favourite number, to the point where the player tattooed it on his left arm.
