Goalkeeper

The Brazilian giant

Fabiano Freitas is a true giant between the posts, and we’re not saying that just because of his height (1.97 metres). The goalkeeper was born in Mundo Novo, Bahia, in Brazil, in 1988, and came to Portugal in season 2011/12 to play in Olhanense. A year at Olhão was enough for FC Porto, where he found his place in the starting team in season 2013/14, after Helton was injured, playing in 28 matches for all competitions. In 20147/15, he retained the position in most of the matches, and was in the starting team for 38 times. In the next two seasons, he was loaned to Fenerbahçe, from Turkey.

With an unusual height, Fabiano takes advantage pf that feature to dominate in the air, and to close the way to goal. Apart from these attributes, Fabiano also shows skill when it comes to saving penalties, another important asset. Season 2017/18 starts with Fabiano dealing with an injury, sustained while playing for Fenerbahçe, in April, 2017.
