Corona, magic with speed

Talent, creativity, and skill, these are the things that can’t be measured in centimetres when talking about Jesús Corona. A born winger, Corona usually plays on the right, but is no stranger to the other side, especially because there’s also some talent in his left foot. Fast and skilled, his 1.70 metres are far from a handicap, as he is able to sneak past whoever comes against him.

Cheeky, “flamboyant”, as he described himself talking as a Dragon for the first time, and with nearly supersonic moves, the Mexican international star has above average technique and is not afraid of dribbling. He is a natural at causing havoc. One of the signature moves of “Tecatito” is the way he cuts inside to make use of his powerful shot with the left foot, but he’s not just a carrilero, as wingers are called in Spain. He can also play in the middle, as a number ten, which gives him more freedom of movement.

He immediately drew attentions on his debut as a blue and white player, in September 12, 2015, scoring two goals away at the home of Arouca. Coming from the Dutch team Twente, the club that welcomed him in Europe, Corona reached some interesting numbers on his debut season: 35 matches and eight goals. In 2016/17, one of his biggest moments was the goal scored to Leicester, for the UEFA Champions League, in a match that ended 5-0. In Mexico, the winger is one of the stars of the national squad, having won the CONCACAF Cup, and the Gold Cup (the biggest continental trophy), both in 2015, having been considered the most valuable player.
