Goalkeeper

Champion in every formation team

Now 21 years old, João Costa has been at FC Porto for the last 13. Born in Arcozelo, Barcelos, the goalkeeper came to the club aged eight, to start a connection that has been lasting for more than half his life. He got the nickname Andorinha from his former club, Os Andorinhas, but, in FC Porto, he assimilated the blue and white soul that has already turned him into an example for youngsters, who, just like him, came to FC Porto with high expectations.

In his steady path in the blue and white formation, he became champion for the Under-15 (2010/11), Under-17 (2011/12) and Under-19 (2014/15) teams. His rising career continued in the following season, then playing nine matches in the first ever title in Ledman LigaPro for FC Porto B. This means that the only trophy he is missing is the national senior title.

Having recovered from a serious injury, which made him miss most of the season 2016/17 – when he scored a rare goal, to Penafiel, in stoppage time, which earned a point for the B team –, João Costa continues to “fly” in 2017/18, as one of the goalkeepers of the main team.
