More firepower

Speed, strength, and technique: these are the main features of Francisco das Chagas Soares dos Santos, simply known as Soares. Brazilian, born in Sousa, in the state of Paraíba, the striker, who can also play from the wings, greatly increased the blue and white firepower, arriving at Estádio do Dragão after six impressive months in Minho, playing for Vitória de Guimarães (nine goals in 22 matches). He debuted for FC Porto on February, 2017, scoring two goals in the home match against Sporting (2-1). His impact on the team was immediate: he scored in the first six matches for the Portuguese League he played in and ended the season with 12 goals in 17 matches for the Dragons.

Tiquinho Soares, as he is also known, is another Brazilian player that uses Portugal as the perfect first step in European football. Adding to speed and strength, Soares also shows flamboyant technique, something better seen on his right foot. His determination and tremendous fighting capacity are other features that set him apart, and they are fundamental to be a player “worthy of FC Porto”.

In Brazil, Soares played in clubs such as Botafogo (Paraíba), Sousa and CSP (Centro Sportivo Paraibano), having arrived in Portugal to play for Nacional, in the second half of season 2014/15. His first experience in Portuguese football had him scoring two goals in 14 matches, a record that was significantly improved next season, still at the club from Madeira: 14 goals in 35 matches.
