FC Porto and New Balance revealed the main equipment for the Dragons for season 2017/18. Also integrated in the campaign “Joga Sem Fronteiras” (“Play Without Boundaries”), just like the third equipment, the main equipment sees the return of the iconic Porto Blue and white stripes that have been a constant feature of FC Porto’s home kits since 1909. The jersey includes a white rib crew neck collar and cuffs with tipping detail. A full colour FC Porto crest is applied to the chest.
Alex Telles already had the opportunity to wear the new jersey and can hardly wait for the start of the new season: “It is an honour to wear the blue and white stripes and to represent this great club. The team is looking forward to wearing this kit at Estádio do Dragão next season and to bringing more success to the club.” This kit will be available at FC Porto Stores starting this Thursday, June 15.
The kit has been developed using NB Dry technology, a moisture wicking fabric that helps keep players cool and dry whilst wicking sweat from the body, leading to fast drying. A 3D stretch mesh in the under-arm regions and a mesh to the back of the shirt have been incorporated as well to aid movement and airflow around the body.
The kit is completed with Porto Blue shorts and white socks. The cushioning integrated within the sock’s ankle and heel areas offers added support. The foot bed was developed with polypropylene, to prevent excess moisture when the foot makes contact with the boot.
The goalkeeper kit has been engineered in line with the outfield players’ jerseys, sporting a mock vent and back body map mesh system to compliment the outfield kit aesthetic. The all black design with full colour crest, and NB branding in white has a simple look, completed by the tonal three colour sleeve pattern.
According to Richard Wright, General Manager of New Balance Football, “this kit is the embodiment of a classic design with optimum performance. Not only does it keep tradition in this great club, but the inclusion of our NB technology will allow the team to play without restrictions or boundaries of the match. I am looking forward to next season and to watching FC Porto compete at the highest level, both domestically and abroad.”
