Victory in Italy means lead in Group B

FC Porto beat Follonica 7-1 in matchday three of Group B of the EuroLeague

This Saturday afternoon, FC Porto Fidelidade beat Follonica, 7-1, a result that allows the team led by Guillem Cabestany to take the lead of Group B of the EuroLeague, as the Dragons won all three matches already played. Against the Italian team, who remains at six points, in a Palazzetto Armeni pretty much full, the blue and whites won thanks to the goals of Reinaldo Garcia (3), Alvarinho, Telmo Pinto, Hélder Nunes and Gonçalo Alves.

A bad start for FC Porto allowed the home team to dominate the starting moments of the match, a dominance that was seen in the opening goal: Pablo Saavedra put Follonica ahead of the scoreboard (minute seven) , but for a short time. For only three minutes to be precise, as that’s when Reinaldo Garcia tied the match (minute ten). The goal signalled the beginning of the great dominance of FC Porto in the match, who, naturally, first gained advantage, and then broaden it.

In the first-half, and in one of his first few touches on the ball, Alvarinho made it 2-1 (minute 19), an advantage that was later widened by Telmo Pinto (3-1) and Gonçalo Alves, in the second-half. And then Reinaldo Garcia set the final 7-1, with two more goals, the last of which in style. Worth seeing over and over again.

The Dragons thus overcame one of the most demanding challenges of this group stage, also taking an important step towards the qualification to the quarter-finals. On matchday four, scheduled for January 13, it will be the Italian team’s turn to visit Dragão Caixa.
