Casillas: “The ball didn’t want to go in today”

Blue and white goalkeeper talked of the goals missing for the Dragons in Paços de Ferreira (1-0)

This Sunday, FC Porto lost for the first time for domestic competitions in 2017/18, in Paços de Ferreira (1-0). After the end of matchday 26 of Liga NOS, with the Dragons still in the lead, Iker Casillas regretted the fact that the blue and whites didn’t play well in the first-half, but pointed out that the team did enough to at least prevent the defeat in the second-half.

Two different halves
“We didn’t play well in the first-half. The pitch was heavy for both teams and that is no excuse. In the second-half, we tried to do all we could to prevent the defeat, we even had a penalty, but the ball just didn’t want to go in tonight. We weren’t fortunate to score and win.”

Fouls and interruptions
“Like I’ve said, we didn’t play well in the first-half, but our mentality was different in the second. Each point is important and Paços de Ferreira also wanted to get one, but this was a match conditioned and there were too many fouls and interruptions. Anyway, we can’t waste time and we need to play our game.”

Focus on Boavista
“We are going to analyse this match and start thinking of Boavista, which is the most important match, as it is the next one. There are matches like this in a championship. If you don’t do things right from the start, you will obviously have more issues to win.”
