Óliver: “We want to be champions again”

Spanish midfielder talked of 2018/19 and assured a FC Porto ambitious to win all titles

This Monday, FC Porto started the pre-season work and Óliver Torres voiced the ambition found in the blue and white squad when looking at 2018/19. The Spanish midfielder admitted that “the first day is always special” and was happy to re-join his teammates at Olival, assuring that the title won last season increases the responsibility: “Now we are the team everyone wants to beat and we need to work harder than ever, without relaxing”. After the morning training, Óliver Torres and the rest of the squad went to Clínica do Dragão in the afternoon, for the medical check-up.

“The first day is always special, re-joining the teammates and being with the team again. The morning training was a little long, so we can reactivate our legs. We have high expectations and the responsibility to win, as always happens with this great club. We will work every day to be better and better.”

Ambition and determination
“In each season that begins, we start with ambition and determination to win everything. Last season, we won the championship, and now we want to win that again and all the cups as well.”

The pre-season
“The challenge is to try to become better and better and try to compete with the teammates to help the team. It will be a long season and every day is important to recharge batteries.”

Sérgio Conceição
“We know him already, and how he works, as well as the style of play he wants to use, so it’s good for everyone that he stayed. I believe that, together, we will have a great season.”

Work even harder to renew the title
“The team is full of ambition and there is a lot of connection. It’s good to see my teammates again and I believe the team knows what it wants. Last season, we started training knowing we had to be champions. Now we are the team everyone wants to beat and we need to work harder than ever, without relaxing. We want to be champions again.”
