Alexis Borges will play for FC Barcelona in 2017/18, on a loan from FC Porto, with the Spanish club having a purchase option for another two years. The 26-year-old pivot is the first Portuguese player to represent the Catalan team, who are the national champions for the past seven seasons, with nine European championships won, a record. It should be reminded that Alexis was born in Cuba, but he has Portuguese nationality, which means he can play for the Portuguese national team.
“First of all, I will miss my teammates and the supporters, who are very important, as they are always with us, fighting. It will be difficult,” the player stated to Porto Canal and www.fcporto.pt, after being at the club for four years, and winning two national championships and a Supercup.
“It's the best thing that happened in my career; after so much hard work at FC Porto, this is the best prize I could have”, Alexis Borges concluded, who will have heavy competition in his position, from the international stars Cédric Sorhaindo (French) and Kamil Syprzak (Polish).
