António Monteiro signed a contract valid for two seasons and returns to the squad led by Moncho López for 2017/18. The basketballer, aged 28, 2.05 metres tall, played for Lusitânia last season, and was one of the best for the team from the Azores.
The old number 10 for the Dragons, national champion in 2015/16, played in all 32 matches for the League, for Lusitânia, ending the competition with an average of 14.9 points and 9.5 rebounds.
Signed by FC Porto in the summer of 2014, from Recreativo do Libolo, António Monteiro will reinforce the position of shooting guard for the blue and whites, even if he is also suitable to be centre. He is also the 11th player confirmed for the next season, joining Pedro Pinto, signed from Vitória de Guimarães, Miguel Miranda and Pedro Bastos, who recently renewed their contract, Pedro Oliveira, André Bessa, Ferrán Ventura, Vladyslav Voytso, Miguel Queiroz, Sasa Borovnjak and Keven Gomes.
