Register was reached in the home match against Leipzig, for the UEFA Champions League

Estádio do Dragão reached the mark of 12 million attendants this Wednesday. The match against Leipzig (3-1), for matchday four of group G of the UEFA Champions League, allowed for the round number to be surpassed.

Opened on November 16, 2003, Estádio do Dragão is preparing to celebrate its 14th anniversary, and has been the scene of strong emotions for the blue and white family, assuming itself as a worthy successor of the unforgettable Estádio das Antas.

The opening party, which included a match against Barcelona, had 51,000 fans in the blue and white stands, and perpetuated a record in terms of assistance. The best official record dates back to April 21, 2004 when 50,818 fans watched the Champions League first leg of the semi-final against Deportivo La Coruña, on the way to the unforgettable Gelsenkirchen final.

Estádio do Dragão reached the ten million mark in the opening day of the 2015/16 Portuguese League, in front of Vitória de Guimarães (3-0), on August 15, 2015. In the 54 matches played since then, in little over two years, FC Porto welcomed two million fans at the stadium.

The start of season 2017/18 was marked by a record in attendance, with 142,129 spectators in just three matches, proving the sustained progression of recent years. In nine matches held in the Dragon’s den so far, the average remains above 41,000 fans.
