Dragon Force wins Proliga again

The white and blues beat Eléctrico (77-70) in Ponte do Sôr, in the third match of the play-off final

This Saturday, Dragon Force became the champions of Proliga for the second season in a row, after beating Eléctrico (77-70), at the Pavilhão Municipal de Ponte de Sôr, for the third match of the play-off final. The Dragons went to Alentejo with a 2-0 advantage in the final, thanks to the two victories achieved at Dragão Caixa (92-55 and 103-76).

Under extreme heat, the team led by Moncho López was cool enough under pressure to not let Eléctrico get their hopes up. The first period was settled by the white and blue dominance (25-19), but balance set the tone for the second partial (14-14). Winning by six points at half-time, Dragon Force slightly increased the advantage on the way to the fourth and final period of the match (59-51).

As had already occurred throughout the match, the white and blues rarely got to an advantage of more than ten points, always allowing the home team to react, who had credit in the way they kept uncertainty in the final result. But the individual and team skill of Dragon Force made all the different and the 27th victory in 27 matches for Proliga became a reality.

Even if the MVP was João Lanzinha (20 points and 11 rebounds), it should be said that the white and blue team had five players scoring ten or more points, with Pedro Bastos (18 points), Miguel Queiroz (15 points) and António Monteiro (13 points and 10 rebounds) under the spotlight. After two consecutive years winning Proliga, the future of Dragon Force will continue in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol.
