This Monday, FC Porto and New Balance officially revealed the alternative kit for 2016/17, part of the Another Level campaign. The use of the vibrant yellow has the purpose of causing an impression on the opponent, while trying to disrupt him with the zig zag pattern over traditional horizontal stripes, with blue details at the end.
The kit has been developed using NB Dry technology, a moisture wicking fabric that helps keep players cool and dry whilst wicking sweat from the body, making it fast drying. Laser cut and bonded eyelets placed to the under arms coupled with engineered mesh panels to the side seams aid airflow around the body A part of the club’s anthem, “Porto! Porto! Porto!”, has been placed to the internal hem of the jersey.
The kit is completed with yellow shorts and socks, featuring FC Porto blue trims. To offer added support to the ankle, the socks have built in comfort zones while the foot bed has been developed with polypropylene to help alleviate excess moisture when the foot makes contact with the boot.
Rúben Neves, the youngest player ever to captain a team in the Champions League, already had the pleasure of trying the kit, and praised its design: “The kit stands out, and I really like the design; I know the team and the fans will too. We’re looking forward to shine when we wear this on the pitch.”
The goalkeeper kit is constructed with engineered Flex fabric panels to offer a greater range of movement. These Flex zones are called out by contrast heat transfers. The jersey, in grey and yellow, is completed with matching grey shorts and socks.
Richard Wright, General Manager of New Balance football, was also pleased with the result: “The kit completes an exciting collection for the season 2016/17. The combination of horizontal stripes paired against dissecting geometric shapes, along with the NB Dry fabric, has resulted in a kit that is visually dynamic, that also allows our players to perform at the highest levels.”
The equipment will be available in FC Porto Stores on June 25.
