B team is in the quarter-finals of the Premier League International Cup

FC Porto B beat Bayern Munich II 1-0 in the third and final matchday of Group E

This Friday afternoon, FC Porto B beat Bayern Munich II 1-0, and qualified to the quarter-finals of the Premier League International Cup, a competition in which they are the defending champions. In matchday 3 of Group E, the Dragons won thanks to a goal from André Pereira, assuring a spot in the next stage as one of the best two runners-up. The first place, as was already known, belongs to Arsenal, from England.

The first minutes weren’t easy for the team led by António Folha at the Recreation Ground, in Hampshire, as Bayern Munich set a very strong pace from the start. It wasn’t long before goalkeeper Mouhamed Mbaye started showing skill, for the sake of the blue and whites, who couldn’t find a way to contain the Bavarian attacks in the first 30 minutes.

But, from then on, everything changed: the blue and whites started connecting their first plays and successfully shook the German pressure. Diogo Dalot, on the left, had the first dangerous shot, but the moment of the match came 44 minutes in, as, after a play in the middle, André Pereira was tackled in the area. Called to the penalty spot, the striker didn’t miss and scored his 14th goal of the season, which meant the victory tonight.

The Dragons were very close to increasing the advantage in the first seconds of the second-half, but both Dalot and Luizão had the German goalkeeper deny them the celebration. Other than that, it should be said that the second 45 minutes were dominated by the Dragons, who, with more or less difficulty, controlled, always away from their goal, all the moments of the match, while lurking for opportunities to surprise the German team, more balanced for the attack. Halfway through the second-half, Danúbio and then Irala had the second goal on their feet, but always found a defender in the way of the goal.
