Estádio do Dragão candidate to European finals in 2020

Blue and white home may host the decisive match of Europa League or the European Supercup

Estádio do Dragão is a candidate to host, in 2020, the final of the Europa League or the European Supercup. The proposal came from the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol, as is mandatory in these occasions, and was the subject of the meeting held this Friday between chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa and Fernando Gomes, president of the federation.

UEFA will receive a final application until March 1, 2018, and is expected to make a decision in June next year. Apart from Estádio do Dragão – which reached the mark of 12 million attendants in the match against Leipzig on Wednesday –, the Gdánsk Arena, the third largest stadium in Poland, is also applying, with a capacity for 41.620 attendants, home of Lechia Gdánsk since its opening, in 2011.
