Casillas and Felipe praised the positive performance

Goalkeeper and central defender believe the tie will motivate the team for the Portuguese League

Iker Casillas and Felipe stated that FC Porto left an image closer to their true quality than the one left in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish goalkeeper and the Brazilian defender believe that the 0-0 tie conceded this Tuesday will motivate the team for what’s left in the season, in the fight for the championship and the Portuguese Cup.

Casillas
Fair tie
“It was a different match from the one at Estádio do Dragão. The 5-0 had a lot of weight for tonight. The team did well on the defence and on the attack, we just couldn’t win. We had situations where we could have scored. I remember one for Óliver and another for Aboubakar, but truth is they had their chances as well. In the end, the tie may be the fair result. I hope this round will allow us to learn and that this tie motivates us for the rest of the Portuguese championship, as it’s what we want the most.”

The return to the starting team
“Every player wants to change the coach’s mind. Not just me, everyone else in the team. We all have to work to give a good response when we are called. That’s the only way to get the team to reach objectives. Unfortunately, we lost the League Cup in penalties, tonight we are out of the Champions League, but we are in the lead of the championship and we want to fight for that status. We are already thinking of Paços de Ferreira.”

Felipe
Honour the club
“The team showed some of its quality. We know that playing away is always harder, especially against Liverpool. We grabbed on to the result and honoured the club we play for. The team played closer together and that made their life difficult. We knew we had to continue like this until the end, so they wouldn’t have room to move.”

The Brazilian squad
“I hope Tite [national coach] watched the match. But I am calm, doing my job at FC Porto, and the rest will follow. But I hope he watched it.”
