Defence of the title starts at home

FC Porto Fidelidade faces Grândola in the opening matchday of the roller hockey Championship

The draw of the fixtures of Campeonato Nacional in roller hockey, held this Monday, determined that the national champions will start the defence of the title at Dragão Caixa, facing newcomers Grandôla. The opening matchday is scheduled for October 21, a week after the Supercup António Livramento, that will have FC Porto facing Sporting de Tomar, whom the Dragons beat 5-1 in the final of last season’s edition of the Portuguese Cup.

As has been happening in the last seasons, the draw was conditioned so that the first team face each other in the decisive stage of the championship. This means the blue and whites will face, consecutively, Benfica, Oliveirense, and Sporting - second, third, and fourth last season - between matchday 25 and 27.

The first official classic of the season for the team led by Guillem Cabestany will be against Benfica, in Lisbon, for the last matchday of the civil year, scheduled for December 30, followed by another match away, against Oliveirense, on January 6, and finally a home match against Sporting, on January 13.

The calendar for the 2nd Division, North, also drawn today, has FC Porto B, champion of the 3rd division last season, playing away in the opening matchday, against Marco.
