Alex Telles: "It was a dream come true"

Fullback talked of an unforgettable year after fulfilling the dream of becoming national champion

After completing his second season at FC Porto, Alex Telles fulfilled his dream of being national champion. The defender was one of the main stars in the blue and white team in season 2017/18, especially when it came to assistances: in 45 matches (for all competitions), the Brazilian made the decisive pass 19 times and scored four goals. On the moment of the consecration, the defender talked of an unforgettable year.

“Without a doubt, the best word to define this year is unforgettable. The celebrations will remain in my memory forever. We’ve been through moments that I will never forget. I think the result, when you work hard, always comes. We managed to become champions and that’s what matters, to come to the Museum and leave this trophy, to leave our mark at the club. To get to this point, to become national champion, for me, is a dream come true”, the fullback stated.

With the beautiful trophy on display at the Museum, Alex Telles promised to return one day, with sons and grandsons, so that they see for themselves that someone in the family left a mark in the “wonderful history” of FC Porto. In fact, that’s a wish the number 13 always admitted to. Since he got to FC Porto, he always showed his desire to leave his mark in the club, so, when the time came to celebrate, he didn’t forget the objective achieved: “It was a life goal. I achieved it, as is the objective of being part of the history of the club, like I said when I got here. I wanted to leave a legacy and here it is”, Alex Telles stated.

As for dedications, they go entirely to his closest family: “I dedicate the title to my family. To my wife, to my parents, to my sister. They were the ones that ran by my side from day one, who always supported me until now, who gave me strength to get where I got. This title is for them”, the fullback concluded.

Until the end of May, will be publishing statements from the players and coaches that helped FC Porto win the trophy of National Champions in 2017/18.
