Matchday five of Group B of the European League has FC Porto Fidelidade traveling to the outskirts of Bordeaux, in the South of France, to face Mérignac, in an “important match”, that will be played in a “small and difficult pavilion”. Carles Grau is the man saying it, and the player knows what he is saying, as he played there last season for the Spanish team Vic. The Catalan goalkeeper warns to the need to not repeat the same mistakes that gave a surprising 1-1 tie in the first matchday, so that the Dragons achieve their goal of winning the three points and hope for Bassano to lose against Barcelona, so the qualification to the quarter-finals will be guaranteed (Bassano is third in the group, one point behind the Dragons).
The match opposing the French and the Portuguese teams is scheduled for this Saturday, at 19h30 (mainland Portugal time), and will be broadcasted live by CERH’s Youtube channel, with Porto Canal doing live broadcasts during the match as well.
Seal the group
“It’s an important match, and we need to win it. If we do, and Bassano loses in Barcelona, we may qualify immediately to the next stage, which would be great. But we still believe we can win the group. We know it’s hard, but it is possible and we are going to fight for it.”
Secret is remaining focused
“We need to remain focused, which is something we lacked in the first round, as their goalkeeper had a fantastic match and we couldn’t find the best solutions to score.”
Similarities with the match against Riba d’Ave
“I played there last year, against Mérignac, and I know it’s a tricky pavilion, as it is small. It will be a match similar to our last one, against Riba d’Ave, as the pavilions are very similar.”
