Dragons lose in Montenegro

Defeat against Mornar Bar, 81-70 in the opening matchday of Group C of the FIBA European Cup


This Wednesday, FC Porto lost to Mornar Bar (81-70), in Montenegro, for the opening day of Group C of the FIBA European Cup. In the next round, the second, the Dragons travel to Finland to face Kataja Basket, with the match scheduled for October 25 (Wednesday), at 16h30, at LähiTapiola Areena, in Joensuu.

The team led by Moncho López had a first period full of character and ended slightly on top in the first ten minutes of the match (24-23), but Mornar Bar didn’t fear the Dragons and tried to react on the way to the break. The home team, slightly more accurate from the three-point line, went to halftime winning (41-36), but the score clearly kept FC Porto in the fight for the victory.

The third period ended up being decisive for the outcome of the match. The 25-16 partial for Mornar Bar after the break increased the gap to 14 points at the start of the last ten minutes (66-52), which ended up confirming the victory for the team from Montenegro, 81-70. For the blue and whites, Marcus Gilbert and Sasa Borovnjak were the best, both with 21 points scored.
