Vincent Aboubakar renewed his contract with FC Porto until June 30, 2021, in an agreement that doesn’t change the value of the release fee, set at 50 million euros.
In addition to extending his tie with the 25-year-old Cameroonian international star, FC Porto acquired the remaining 60% of the player's economic rights from Lorient for 7.2 million euros, now holding 100%.
Aboubakar, featured in the latest issue of the magazine Dragões, is the top scorer for FC Porto this season, with a total of eight goals (six in Liga NOS and two in the UEFA Champions League).
The agreement was announced by director Fernando Gomes during the presentation of economic results of the public limited sports company for season 2016/17: “The chairman led this negotiation with the player’s agents and with Lorient. It wasn’t easy”. The financial director of the Dragons also explained that the deal is a “good way” to show that “there is no conditioning regarding the financial fair play agreement with UEFA” in “relation to the buying and selling of players”, with the exception of the rule that the club can only spend in passes an amount equal to or lower than that received from sales, in the relevant transfer window.
