Marcano: “We had more opportunities”

Central defender praised the good first-half of FC Porto in the classic of matchday 8 of the championship

In the aftermath of the tie against Sporting (0-0), for matchday eight of Liga NOS, Ivan Marcano admitted that, especially for the good first-half, FC Porto could have left Estádio de Alvalade with three points. The defender recalled that the Dragons were the team with the best chances to score and also assured that the first points lost in the league will not affect the team in the slightest, as tonight the Dragons again showed that they are well, that they are a group and that they are prepared to face the toughest matches.

First-half with dominance
“We could have reached the victory as, in the first-half, we managed to be better on the pitch. We created a well-defined plan with the little time we had to prepare. We had more chances, but we couldn’t score. The second-half was more balanced. I don’t know if it was a physical break. Both teams were playing more on the midfield and none of the teams had many occasions.”

First points lost
“I don’t think losing the first points will have any influence on the team. Today we showed that we are a team that knows how to suffer and that knows how to face difficult matches. I don’t think there is any negative point to take.”

The fight for the title
“I don’t care what is said. I think we have to think about our team and not about the others. We're fine and that's what matters.”
