Aboubakar: “victory comes from team work”

Cameroonian striker set the tone for FC Porto's victory at Estádio do Bessa, against Boavista (3-0)


FC Porto beat Boavista (3-0) in the Porto derby, at Estádio do Bessa and is in the lead of the championship again, two points ahead of Sporting. At the end of matchday ten, Aboubakar was “happy” for the eighth goal he scored in the competition, but preferred to praise the team's performance in the victory against the rival.

The expected difficulties
“Boavista is a good team and we saw how well they played against Benfica. We knew it was going to be a very difficult game and the first-half proved it; still, in the second, everything was different. It was an intense match, with a lot of fight, but we ended up being better and we are the fair winners.”

Liberating goal
“The first goal turned out to be decisive to unblock the team. It gave us peace of mind and allowed us to score two more goals later. I’m happy to have scored and helped the team, but this victory comes from team work. The merit belongs to the whole team.”

The fight for the title
“We know that the fight will last until the end and that nothing will be easy, but we trust our work and our quality to reach the end in the lead.”
