Marega scored two goals against Marítimo (3-1), and proved to be vital in the victory that allowed FC Porto to resume the lead of Liga NOS, later being named MVP of matchday 15 by the fans. This was, in fact, the third time this happened this season, after the matches against Estoril (4-0), for the first matchday, and Desportivo de Chaves (3-0), for matchday five. When it came to receiving the award, the number 11 preferred to share it with his teammates.
“Goals are the result of team work. It doesn’t matter who scores, what matters is to win. But, obviously, it’s always a pleasure to score goals and to help the team.”
Lead to keep in 2018
“It was an important match for me, as I was facing my former club. It’s been a while since I played there and I showed that I’ve evolved as a player, that I am a much better player than when I left Marítimo. That’s thanks to the team, to my teammates. We are going to end this year in the lead, so now we need to think of next year, and return with the same shape we were in today”.
A team that scores many goals
“I don’t think we are in our best moment now, as we also scored many goals at the start of the season. We are in a good momentum, highly effective, and the only exception was the match against Benfica, when we couldn’t score. Match after match, we have been showing that we are a team that can score many goals.”
