A partnership between FC Porto and Cisco makes Estádio do Dragão the first sports complex in Portugal to implement the Cisco Connected Stadium WiFi solution – for now available to seven thousand spectators in the VIP stands – thus becoming a technologically advanced space, capable of providing partners and viewers in these areas with an innovative, unique and optimized experience.
With the implementation of the high-density WiFi network, fans can use their smartphones or other mobile devices to quickly, simply and reliably access different applications, specifically designed for interaction in the space. They can also browse the Internet and social networks during matches. Using Cisco Connected Stadium WiFi for Internet connections will put less strain in mobile phone networks, allowing viewers to make calls and send text messages during shows.
This specially built entertainment and sports platform combines the latest Cisco wireless technology, specialized software and professional services optimized for stadiums and crowded rooms. “We are delighted to be able to work with FC Porto to make the Estádio do Dragão an innovative stadium and a reference in Portugal. Industry leaders should look for innovative ways to take advantage of the network's enormous potential as a platform capable of changing the rules of the game and attracting more fans, something that FC Porto is demonstrating with its leadership and innovation at Estádio do Dragão, stated Miguel Almeida, Sales Manager of Cisco Portugal.
The Cisco Connected Stadium network will support high volumes of WiFi and high-definition video traffic generated during the shows. In addition, there is a new range of possibilities for interaction and access to content for attendants at the stadium, and the same is valid for days when there are no matches or shows.
“In order to offer our partners and their guests a unique experience, we always try to use the latest technology. When we implement the Cisco Connected Sports & Entertainment Solution platform at Estádio do Dragão, we will be able to elevate the experience of the attendants to a new level”, explained Rui Lousa, director of Porto Comercial.
