The draw of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League was held this Monday, in Nyon, Switzerland, and determined that Liverpool will be the opponent FC Porto will face. The blue and whites, who are in the knockout stage for the 13th time, will play the first leg at home, on February 14, 2018, and the second at Anfield Road, on March 6.
Five times European champions, most recently in 2004/05, the Reds won Group E, with 12 points from three victories and three ties. They were the second team with the most goals in the group stage (23 goals, two less than Paris-Saint Germain), having conceded six goals.
FC Porto and Liverpool have already met four times in European competitions, with two ties and two victories for the British. In 2007/08, they met in the group stage of the Champions League: at Estádio do Dragão, the match ended in a tie (1-1) and in Liverpool, the home team won 4-1.
The previous matches came in the quarter-finals of the 2000/01 UEFA Cup/Europa League: in the first leg, played at Estádio das Antas, the match ended without goals (0-0); in the second, in Anfield, Liverpool won 2-0.
