Goal scored by Hernâni on the last minute gave the victory to FC Porto over Boavista on matchday 11 of Liga NOS

Thanks to the goal scored by Hernâni on the fifth minute of stoppage time, FC Porto beat Boavista (1-0), this Sunday night, at the Estádio do Bessa, reaching the tenth consecutive victory in the season, the fourth in Liga NOS, which means the solo lead of the table, after 11 matchdays.

After assuring another qualification to the Round of 16 of the Champions League and of the Portuguese Cup  (Moreirense is the next opponent), the blue and whites returned to the championship 22 days after beating Sporting de Braga (1-0), determined to continue the good moment. That was the challenge issued by Sérgio Conceição  at the preview of the derby, and the Dragons fulfilled it - not just those on the pitch, but also the over five thousand that were on the stands, supporting from start to finish.

The coach - who matched his best winning streak for FC Porto, reached last season - did only one change to the team that faced Schalke (3-1), last Wednesday: Otávio returned to the starting team, replacing Maxi, and Corona moved back to the defence again.

The derby remained true to tradition - vicious and constantly interrupted, be it by tackles or by players being assisted, which slowed the pace of the match, especially in the first 15/20 minutes. After that, FC Porto started to find the way to the opposing goal: Brahimi made the first warning, with a shot that touched the post (34m), in the best play of the entire first-half - Helton saved what seemed to be a certain goal for the Algerian winger (43m).

The second-half started as the first ended, with the Dragons aiming for goal: first by Marega, with the goalkeeper saving it again (48m); Herrera was next (53m), and finally Felipe (60m). Later, the Mexican international star did score, but the goal was disallowed for off-side (71m), right after Marega, in good position, shot over the bar (70m).

What seemed more and more a certainty failed to happen. Sérgio Conceição, who had already sent in Soares, then sent in Adrián and Hernâni in the final minutes, and again proved he has a talent to predict the future, as those two were part of the play that proved decisive, just before the final whistle: the Spanish international shot for a great save from Helton, but the ball ended right in the feet of Hernâni, who just put it in (90+5m), for a very late goal that meant three more important points for the objective of the season. Next Friday (20h30), that objective continues, with the match against Portimonense, at Estádio do Dragão.
