Sérgio Oliveira talked about the moment of the team and foresees a year with victories
This Tuesday, Sérgio Oliveira, talking to Porto Canal, made a prediction for season 2019/20. The 27 years old midfielder is preparing to start his 6th season in the main squad of FC Porto, after his debut in 2009, when he was only 17 years old. The Portuguese international star assured that the team is focused on work and that the objective of the team is to win titles.
Demanding work in the pre-season
“We are in the pre-season, doing tactical work along with physical work, and training everything that involves a football match. We are focused on what we do every day, on evolving, listening to the ideas of the coach and creating a strong group to prepare for what’s coming.”
Wearing the shirt with pride
“I’ve been at this club for many years and I’m proud and ambitious to wear this shirt. That should be on everyone’s mind, as this isn’t just any club, it’s the best club in Portugal and whoever joins us must be proud and ambitious in wearing this shirt.”
Objective: titles
“We need to make this a year of victories, a year full of titles, as that’s what the club lives for. We have to keep this mentality of big club, as that’s what identifies this club. Like I’ve said before, we need to focus on work, stay silent, but win, victories and titles, as that’s what this club needs.”
Youngsters with quality
“I’ve been in their shoes. Being 16, 25 or 30, what matters is what you show on the pitch, and these youngsters have tremendous quality. People might look at our squad and say we have too many kids, but they’re wrong, there is a lot of quality being shown every day and a lot of commitment. There are more reinforcements coming and players returning, Osorio for example, who came in today and is another one to help. We’re creating a strong group to fight for what is ours, the titles.”
Making the fans happy
“Those who play here know that the fans are very demanding, but they give everything they have to support us. We just need to return on the pitch, so that we can all be happy.”
