Malian gave the victory to FC Porto against Rio Ave (1-0), in Vila do Conde, for matchday 7 of Liga NOS
This Sunday, FC Porto beat Rio Ave (1-0), in Vila do Conde, for matchday seven of the championship, reaching the sixth consecutive victory in the competition. Marega (12m) scored for the Dragons, who now have 18 points, one point behind the leader, Famalicão.
The good start for FC Porto almost ended in a goal two minutes in, but Marega wasn’t able to head it in, facing former Dragon Kieszek. The Polish goalkeeper did a great save in the first opportunity, but he was powerless when Marega scored: after a corner-kick taken by Alex Telles, Marega went up to give the lead to the Dragons (12m).
The blue and white superiority can even be seen in the ball possession (71%), never allowing Rio Ave to go up in the first-half, but the minimum margin remained until halftime. Just before the break, Uribe was in good position in the area, but couldn’t get to the cross from Corona (31m) as intended. The worst of the match until then was the referee Nuno Almeida, with an awkward disciplinary criteria, impossible to understand.
Rio Ave tried to attack more in the second-half, and was even able to score, by Mehdi Taremi, on the first real dangerous situationm but the off-side was flagged. On the other end of the pitch, Kieszek stopped the attempt of Alex Telles (54m) as it hit the top bar in a direct free-kick (77m). The home team tried to force the tie in the final moments, but FC Porto remained safe and compact in the final minutes and grabbed those three points before the championship stops again.
