Sérgio Conceição was proud of his players after the turnaround achieved against Vitória de Guimarães (2-1), at Estádio Municipal de Braga, which meant the qualification to the final of the League Cup. When asked to preview the upcoming match against Sporting de Braga, on Saturday (19h45, Sport TV), the coach stated he is sure it will be a “good show”.

The summary of the match
“It was a very competitive match, on a pitch that was difficult sometimes. We had many issues with slipping, but the players were committed in the entire match, and that goes for both teams. We started the match well, and the first 45 minutes were balanced, but we did have some situations to score. They weren’t clear goal shots, but we could have been luckier. We didn’t start the second-half as well, and Vitória de Guimarães was better until the penalty. We reacted to that goal conceded well and were able to turn it around. If was a display of character for the players.”

The substitutions
“We tried to move Corona forward, and send in Manafá, as he is fast and is able to attack, apart from being a competent defender. Then we sent in Romário, to replace Marega, as I felt it was important to have more people in the middle at that point. We had planned it. After we tied, we aimed for the victory. When we were winning, we wanted to grab on to that.”

The final against Sporting de Braga
“I’m sure it will be a good show. Now we are going to rest and, starting tomorrow morning, we will start thinking of the final.”

“Danilo has been a fantastic player in terms of sacrifice. He is worthy of FC Porto. He has been playing greatly conditioned by his knee and he has been giving everything for the team. I felt it would be best to not take risks for this match and let him rest.”
