Pepe and Diogo Costa reacted to the tie in the classic in Alvalade (1-1), for matchday five of the League

At the end of the classic against Sporting, which ended in a tie (1-1), Diogo Costa was named man of the match and stated that, although it is “always good” to receive the award, he would have preferred to “win” the match. As for what is left in the championship, the goalkeeper reminded: “There is a lot of to go, a lot of happiness awaits us”. Pepe, FC Porto’s captain, recognized that “it was a well-played match for both teams who knew that a win was very important” and added: “the second-half belonged entirely to us, and we could have made it 2-1, but there’s a lot of championship ahead, we have to stay on our path”. On Luis Díaz’s performance, that ended in a goal for the blue and whites, the central defender showed “pride” in having “players like Luis Díaz and others”.

Diogo Costa
“It’s always good to receive this award, but I would rather see us win. We will keep training, always humble and with a lot of dedication, there is a lot of championship ahead, a lot of happiness awaits us.”

Pepe
“It was a well-played match for both teams who knew that a victory was very important. We always looked for that result, but this is football, the coach had prepared us for their pace variation. We had 10/15 minutes in which we were very far away, but the second-half belonged entirely to us, maybe we could have made it 2-1, but there’s a lot of championship ahead, we have to stay on our path. It was a well-played match, with two teams trying to do what the coaches asked them to do. Luis Díaz is the example of the professionalism and passion we have in playing for FC Porto, we know of the importance of wearing this shirt, and I am proud to share the locker room with Luis Díaz and others. There is a lot of championship ahead, we have many matches ahead, difficult ones, it is important to be well in those matches and get the three points.”
