FC Porto secured its fourth consecutive victory in the Portuguese League by defeating Académico (0-3) this Saturday in Viseu for matchday 4 of the season. Gabri Veiga scored the second goal, assisted William Gomes on the third, and was named the game’s MVP, but what made him “very happy” was the “team’s victory.” Even with a very positive start to the season both individually and as a team, the No. 10 says “we have to give more and do more” because “there’s always room for improvement.”

“From an individual standpoint, I was motivated because last week I was disappointed not to have won the MVP award. Just kidding, the truth is, I’m very happy about the team’s victory on this field against a strong team that was on a roll and has been playing together for a few years now. We’re happy to keep racking up points and feeling better and better.”

“There’s always room for improvement. I won’t lie, I’m happy with how things are going, but I still have a lot to improve on. I’m pleased with the work I’ve done so far, but I need to give more and do more.”

“Last year I used to get upset about coming off, but now I have to appreciate being on the field. I’m always available to the coach to play wherever needed. We have to appreciate the effort of those playing up front, because they’re the first to defend.”

“We’ve worked hard on these plays. We exchange passes and then attack the space. Given our style of play, I knew there’s always a winger making a run. Against Rio Ave, I could have passed the ball to William but didn’t, but today I did. It was a bit of intuition. I didn’t see him, but I felt that my friend William was there.”
