Under-19: Win to keep thinking of the first place

FC Porto faces Leipzig on Wednesday (14h00), for matchday four of Group G of the UEFA Youth League

The Under-19 team plays an important match for the future in the UEFA Youth League next Wednesday, as a victory over Leipzig would mean a big step towards the qualification to the next stage of the competition and, especially, the first place in group G, the best solution to aspire to, and to avoid the qualification play-off. Starting at 14h00 (Sport TV 1), the team led by João Brandão, with six points (second, three behind Monaco) faces the German team, with only one point, just as Besiktas.

In the preview of the match, the coach admitted that the team stability will be fundamental to overcome a “difficult and very competent” team. Also called to preview the match, Romário Baró guaranteed an FC Porto playing as usual, in front of a team that has been performing well away from home.

João Brandão
“This team has already shown that they are very competent in many moments of the game. Our team stability will be fundamental. We will have to be very balanced at all times, prepared for their quick counters, and keep in mind how strong they are in the lost balls, but we will not give up on our game. Our principles are settled and we have all the conditions to win because we want to take a step towards qualification. When the time comes to fight for the first place, we will be ready for that as well, but, for now, the goal is to get the three points.”

Romário Baró
“We expect a strong opponent, as they are stronger away from home. We’re going to try to counter this and play our game. FC Porto always tries to play their game and control the match from start to finish. The support of the fans is always important, as it gives us more strength for any challenge and, in this case, we want to win to keep thinking of the first place.”
