Borja Sainz
Son of Iñaki Sainz, former Eibar player, and nephew of Carlos García, a historic figure at Athletic, Borja Sainz was born on February 21, 2001 in the province of Vizcaya, more precisely in Leioa, and began playing football at the club where his uncle played on 239 occasions. In the summer of 2017, he left Bilbao for Vitoria and made his Spanish League debut at just 18 years of age, in a match between Alavés and Espanyol held in the capital of the Basque Country. He made his debut for the Spanish Under-19 team in the Euro qualifiers and played another 43 games in blue and white, colours he continued to wear when he moved to Real Zaragoza on loan. His experience in the Spanish second division was followed by another in Turkey, where his good performances for Giresunspor allowed him to make the leap to England. He arrived at Norwich in July 2023, contributed to ten goals in his debut season and, in his second, was one of the main highlights of the Championship, finishing the 2023/24 season with 19 goals and four assists. All in all, Borja Sainz played 82 games, scored 27 goals and set up six assists while representing the Canaries, coming within one goal of becoming the top scorer in the English second tier, and became the Championship's best dribbler.
