João Costa

Born on February 2, 1996 in Barcelos, João Costa began playing for Andorinhas in 2004 and moved to Porto in 2006. Wearing the Dragon shirt, he was crowned National Champion in the youth (2010/11), juvenile (2011/12) and junior (2014/15) categories, won the Second League with the B team (2015/16) and ended up on a loan to Gil Vicente in 2017/18. From his homeland, he headed to Spain, where he spent five seasons playing for Cartagena, Mirandés, Granada and Real Murcia in the lower divisions, before Feirense reopened the doors to Portuguese football for him in the summer of 2023. His excellent performances in goal - 10 clean sheets and two penalties saved in the first 18 matchdays of Liga Portugal 2 - earned him the Best Goalkeeper award in December 2024 and an invitation from Estrela da Amadora the following month. After half a year at Reboleira, during which he was a starter and played every minute of the last 14 matchdays of the championship, the 1.86-metre athlete returns to the club that saw him grow up and will now wear the blue and white jersey with the number 24.
