He played more than 100 games for each of them, was a leading figure in all of them, and won titles in all of them. After a brief spell at Porto in 2004/05, the defender returned to FC Porto with 31 titles won throughout his career: one Champions League, one European Super Cup, one Club World Cup, seven French Leagues, five French Cups, six French League Cups, five French Super Cups, one Italian League, one Italian Super Cup, and one Brazilian Cup. In addition to these trophies, he won the Copa America and the Confederations Cup while playing for the Brazilian national team, which he represented more than a hundred times and even captained.
