William Gomes

Born on March 15, 2006, in Aracaju, one of the capitals of the Brazilian Northeast, William Gomes Carvalho Santos started becoming noticed when he was 11 years old and still played futsal in a small school in his hometown. At the age of 14, the scouts took him to Cotia, the São Paulo academy, and the boy discovered at the Baden Powell met their expectations. Although he was initially described by observers as an inner midfielder, the lefty began to stand out even more in the attacking wings and that’s where he shone at the service of the under20 team before turning 17. With 38 goals in 112 games in the youth squads, the winger became a regular in the under15 and under17 national teams and earned the trust of Dorival Júnior, the coach who promoted him to the main squad of São Paulo. He officially debuted in November 2023, against Fluminense, and stood out for his speed, short dribbling and flair. Since then, he has played 20 matches, scored three goals, made an assist and called the attention of the Dragons, who made him exchange the main metropolis of South America for the city that gave name to Portugal.
