Aboubakar and Óliver can reach match 100 with FC Porto's jersey on Saturday with Boavista
FC Porto returns this Saturday (20h30, Sport TV1) to Estádio do Dragão to face Boavista, a match that could special for Vincent Aboubakar and Óliver Torres. The two players joined FC Porto in 2014/15 with just one day of difference, both of them have been at the club for three seasons and both of them can reach their 100 matches with the blue and white jersey in the classic.
Óliver arrived at the end of August 2014, loaned by Atlético Madrid and quickly took his spot on the team, having played 40 match and scoring seven goals. He returned to Vicente Calderón in 2015/16 and returned to the Dragons in the following season, when he played 39 matches and scored three goals. This season, he has already played 20 matches, but still hasn’t scored. Óliver is the third Spanish footballer in the current squad that is just a small step away from achieving a historic record in FC Porto, which his countrymen Marcano and Casillas have already reached.
Aboubakar also arrived in the last days of the summer market, coming from the French team Lorient. He didn't take his spot in the team right away, because Jackson Martinez was in the squad, but the performances of the striker improved over time until he reached, this season, numbers never before seen in his career. The international Cameroonian star is today the top scorer for the blue and whites in 2017/18, with 26 goals, as many as he scored in the first two seasons at Estádio do Dragão, having reached the 50 goals mark with the blue and white jersey at the beginning of January, against Feirense, in Santa Maria da Feira (2-1).
Before that, in December, Aboubakar had already established the best scoring record in his career, with a hat-trick against Vitória de Setúbal (5-0). Celebrating three goals in the same match has been rare since he arrived in European football - it happened only three times -, but scoring two has been more common: for FC Porto, that has already happened six times. In total, he scored 52 goals, three of which against Boavista - one of them this season, at Estádio do Bessa, in the first turn of the championship (3-0).
Boavista, currently sixth in the table, is the next opponent for a match Sérgio Conceição promised to “give a good answer” to the first defeat in national competitions this season. Matchday 27 of the League will be previewed by Porto Canal starting at 19h00, and can then be followed live on Facebook, Twitter, and the official FC Porto app. In the end, the match analysis will be made in Porto Canal and www.fcporto.pt will have the usual report and statement from the coach and players.
