A declaration of love for Porto 💙 Here's the alternative kit for 2025/26
Forward returns to FC Porto, after two and a half seasons in which he was loaned
The good son returns home. Gonçalo Paciência is returning to FC Porto “to fulfil the second part of the dream”. After two and a half seasons in which he was loaned, the 23 years old Portuguese international forward promises that he will “do his best” to help the team win titles and assures he still has a lot to show.
“Great feelings. It's the second part of the dream, because the first part was achieved when I got here three years ago. I’m coming back very motivated and very happy, because this is what I worked and fought for. Now I'm going to give my best and everything I have”, the new number 14 stated, talking exclusively to www.fcporto.pt and Porto Canal.
Formed in the youth teams of the Dragons, Gonçalo says he is coming back “more mature”, as, when he left, “he was still a boy”, with the dream, now fulfilled, of representing the main team of FC Porto, for which he has scored a goal - on January 28, 2015, at Estádio do Dragão, against Académica (4-1). “This Gonçalo is the Gonçalo who has already found the right way to affirm himself and to be at a higher level. I am one more to help”, the son of Domingos Paciência, former glory of FC Porto, stated, adding that he has a well-defined goal: “to help the team and this club, which is mine, to win titles”.
After playing for Olympiakos, Académica and Rio Ave, the forward represented Vitória de Setúbal in the first half of the season, scoring 11 goals and making six assists in 25 matches. He considers to be “at a good stage” in his career, “after being an international player, scoring goals and getting good performances”, but he says he “still has a lot to show”.
Gonçalo never had the opportunity to work with Sérgio Conceição, but the references he has about the coach couldn’t be any better: “I know, from what people and my colleagues say, to me - I played with almost 90 percent of the players on the team. I think I'll like him, because all the feedbacks are good. I'll try to make the coach proud”.
