Goalkeeper praised the work done in an "incredible year"

At the end of the season where he played the most matches for FC Porto, José Sá wrote his name in the history of the club in a special way, different from his team mates: he is the first player to become a champion for the main squad and for the B team. The title won joins the other one he had helped win in 2015/16, when the second blue and white team achieved the title in the Second League.

For that reason, to have his name at the FC Porto Museum is, for the goalkeeper something new and something repeated. “It’s special, of course, but my name was already here. As I won the Second League for the B team, my name was here, but this title is obviously different. To have my name here for the main team is a reason for me to be tremendously proud. I worked for that”, José Sá explained, talking exclusively to fcporto.pt.

This season, the Portuguese youngster was in front of the blue and white goal in 21 matches, in four competitions. He was in the starting season for the Portuguese League, the UEFA Champions League, the Portuguese Cup and the League Cup.

This means his contribution helped win a title that he says is “special”. “It means a lot on a personal level. It’s the Portuguese League. We all want this trophy”, the goalkeeper stated.

“This group deserved the title. And the club needed this title, but so did we, as some of the players have been here for a few years, and really wanted to win the League. It was incredible: the celebrations, the fans... It really was an amazing year”, José Sá summed up.

When it came to celebrating, the dedications went to his team mates, but talked of a group that, despite playing from the outside, they are never out of the match: “Our families. They also suffer with everything we go through during the season, and so this trophy is also dedicated to them”.
