FC Porto and Sporting face each other tonight (20h30), for the second leg of the semi-finals of the competition

“We want to win the championship and the Cup”. Before the classic against Benfica, which FC Porto won, 1-0, Sérgio Conceição restated the objective and set the tone for the second leg of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, at Estádio José Alvalade, against Sporting (20h30, SportTV).

The clock was about to signal 20h00 on Sunday when Héctor Herrera shot for victory at Estádio da Luz, resuming the lead of Liga NOS. Three days later, FC Porto will again play a classic away, undisturbed by the demanding calendar.

FC Porto stayed in Tróia to prepare for the second match of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, going to Alvalade in the lead of the round. Soares scored the only goal in the match held at Estádio do Dragão on February 7 (1-0). The outcome of the match opposing FC Porto and Sporting - the fifth of the season - comes two months and eleven days after the first leg.

Sérgio Conceição always admitted the desire to be at Estádio Nacional, sharing the ambition of the club, with a long history in the competition. FC Porto is looking for their 30th final of the Portuguese Cup, the 16th since season 1987/88. In the last 30 years, the Dragons played 15 finals and won 11.

The blue and whites won all five match played in the competition so far, eliminating Lusitano de Évora (6-0), Portimonense (3-2), Vitória de Guimarães (4-0) and Moreirense (2-1), to face Sporting in the semi-finals. The goal scored by Soares, after a cross from Sérgio Oliveira, was the 16th for the Dragons in the 2017/18 Portuguese Cup.

Vincent Aboubakar is the top scorer of the blue and white team in the competition, with four goals in four matches played. Iker Casillas and Alex Telles, with 360 minutes played, are the most used by FC Porto in the Portuguese Cup, so far.
