Rui Barros is the new coach of FC Porto B, replacing António Folha as coach of the Dragons. With a past closely linked to FC Porto, Rui Barros played seven seasons at the club (1987/88 and 1994/95 to 1999/00), winning 16 titles: six National Championships, three Portuguese Cups, five Portuguese Supercups, one European Supercup, and one Intercontinental Cup.

The former blue and white midfielder, short in size, a giant in talent, had his first experience as main coach at the start of season 2006/07, when he took over the main team after Co Adriaanse left. With Rui Barros leading the team, days before Jesualdo Ferreira arrived, FC Porto beat Vitória de Setúbal (3-0), in Leiria, and won the Supercup. At the time, the Dragons even reached a never before seen victory over Manchester City (1-0), which gave the Thomas Cook Trophy.

It would take nine more years before Rui Barros took on the role of coach of the main team, after Julen Lopetegui was banned from a match by UEFA: in Kiev, Ukraine, against Dynamo (2-2), in the second matchday of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2015/16. On that season, when Julen Lopetegui left the lead of FC Porto, Rui Barros led the team against Boavista, in Estádio do Bessa, for the Championship: the Dragons won that derby by 5-0.
