Herrera, Danilo, Óliver, and Otávio admitted the qualification to the Round of 16 is closer, but reminded there are two more matches to play
FC Porto beat Lokomotiv Moscow 4-1 at home, but Óliver Torres believes the score doesn’t show the difficulties the team felt in the match, which just values even more an “important victory”, as Danilo and Otávio called it. With three more points won on this matchday 4, the Dragons reinforced the lead in Group D and took an important step towards one of the main objectives of the season - the qualification to the Round of 16. “But there are two important matches left that we need to win”, captain Herrera warned.
Herrera
“We are pleased with the result, as it leaves us closer to the Round of 16. But there are two very important matches left and we can’t afford to lose them, so we can assure the qualification.”
“We always want to play, especially in these important matches, for the Champions League. The group is quite mature, competitive and always strong, whoever plays. And I only have to keep working, to be prepared to help the team when I have the opportunity.”
“Pass to Marega? We know his skill, we know how strong he is in deep plays, and it’s easier for us to play with someone like this, we know that he will get the ball with a simple touch when we pass it to him like that.”
Danilo
“It’s an important stop, but not decisive; it’s just positive for our objectives. We are closer to what we want, which is to qualify to the Round of 16. In the first-half, we lacked defensive organization, especially when we attacked and left many opponents unchecked in our defensive area; as they moved in quick counter-attacks, we ran into some issues in the first-half, but I feel we corrected that in the second, with more speed, even if the pitch was hard to play on.”
Óliver
“The score is misleading, as this was a hard match, against a great team, that created problems in counter-attacks, but I feel we had a good performance, we did well and we got an important victory.”
“We conceded from a corner-kick, but we kept looking for more goals and ended up scoring the third and the fourth. The team and the fans should celebrate.”
“I work every day to improve and to help the team, when the coach decides on it. I have many things to improve, I am still young and I believe I will grow even more.”
Otávio
“It’s always an honour to play for FC Porto, and you have to enjoy every match. It was a good victory, we are still in the lead of the group and close to qualifying to the next stage.”
“We were losing control of the midfield, so the coach asked me to go closer to the middle, to get lost balls. I believe I did the best I could to help the team. I feel physically well, and the so goes for tactics, so I will give everything to help FC Porto.”
