Sergio Conceição di the preview of the match against Roma, at Estádio do Dragão (Wednesday, 20h00), for the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League

FC Porto is losing in the Round of 16 of the Champions League against Roma, after the 2-1 defeat in Italy, but Sérgio Conceição is confident for the second leg of the match against the Italian team, scheduled for Wednesday (20h00) at Estádio do Dragão. The coach is convinced that the team has a good chance of qualifying to the quarter-finals, if the team remains true to the style of play.

The importance of managing the advantages in the matches
“We have to stay balanced in the match, we have to want to win without rushing it, with defensive consistency. We need to understand their strengths, as they’re the third best attack in Serie A and they have very strong players in the attack. Balance will be fundamental.”

Confidence before the match
“Confidence isn’t about having one player or another, it’s about the work we do every day. In the last few matches, apart from the last one, I have been using players that haven’t played as much and it has been working.”

Different approach for the second leg
“Every match is different and every match has its own story. It’s always important to have more than one solution, but the important thing is the work we have to do according to our characteristics and that didn’t happen in the last match. If we remain true to ourselves, we have a great chance of qualifying.”

Defensive consistency and effectiveness
“Getting to the last third and pose danger is something we have been doing. But we also have to be aggressive defensively and that’s going to be crucial in the match.”

Roma bad moment
“I lost the last match as well. Everything that is said before the match has little meaning after the referee signals the start. It’s not because they lost the last match and that the coach is being contested that Roma will be more fragile.”

Challenges of a defensive Rome
“We’re prepared for a tough match. Regardless of the more defensive posture of the Italian teams, what matters is that we have to create goal situations and be effective. Roma are defending a favourable result, we understand that and because of this situation we will play accordingly. We have to be even more aggressive if we're not creating an attacking plays.”

Militão, Danilo and Soares
“They played in the last match. I’m not going to reveal my options today. There are three important players and they are available to help when I decide so.”

Message after the match against Benfica
“You don’t have to go and find the words for the players to understand that this will be a decisive match. We will have the fans supporting us, but we also have to show the fans that we’re doing everything we can to win the round.”

Marega and Soares available for the second leg
“Depends on the strategy for the match and on what I decide for the starting team. I heard a lot of things about our last match, I don’t want to discuss it as there are a lot of people talking about football without understanding a word of what they say. I’m always available to talk about football itself. We have to analyse what approach we’re going to take on the attack and the defence, depending on what the opponent does, as we can’t just look at the players individually.”
