Victory against Oliveirense (83-80) assured the trophy that eluded the blue and whites since 2012

This Sunday, FC Porto won the Portuguese Cup for the 14th time after beating Oliveirense 83-80. A great recovery in the second-half allowed the blue and whites to win the trophy, something that the team led by Moncho López hadn’t won since 2012.

The good start of the Dragons led to an advantage of 13 points in the second period. The current national champions replied in the first-half and set the 39-39 that reached halftime.

Oliveirense continued that momentum in the second-half and managed to end the third period 11 points ahead. The Dragons never stopped believing and, in the last ten minutes, were able to turn the scoreboard around, with a 3-pointer from Will Sheehey.

The blue and white victory was confirmed with 45 seconds to go. After a missed throw from the number 16, Will Graves won the offensive rebound and put FC Porto in the lead for more than one ball possession.

Brad Tinsley, 20 points, four rebounds and four assistances, was the MVP of the final. Will Sheehey (18 points, six rebounds and two assistances), Will Graves (11 points, 12 rebounds and three assistances) and João Soares (12 points, seven rebounds and two assistances) also did well in the match.

With this victory, the blue and whites won the Portuguese Cup for the 14th time. The celebration started in Algarve and will end in the FC Porto Museum, when the players hand the trophy that eluded the city since 2012.
